Buccal Fat Pad Removal
Do you feel as though your face is a little full? Have you ever wanted a slimmer contour to your cheek area? You’re not alone! Facial contouring has been on the rise recently. If you’re looking for a non-surgical approach to achieving this look, the buccal fat pad removal procedure may be a great option for you! The goal of buccal fat removal is to thin the cheeks, specifically in the area of the cheek hollows. Although a face that is naturally soft and filled out is considered youthful, some people find that their face feels too full, even chubby.
A buccal fat removal procedure removes the buccal fat pad, a naturally-occurring pad of fat in the cheek hollow area. The size of the buccal fat pad varies with each individual patient, and the buccal fat pad in each cheek may be different sizes. Buccal fat pad removal is an office procedure and not considered surgery. The buccal fat pad removal process consists of Dr. Chang making a tiny incision inside the patient’s cheek. There are no cuts on the outside of the face. Sutures will be placed, and you will be discharged with post-care instructions along with a few prescriptions. Please expect to be in the office for 1-1 ½ hours. The discomfort level is minimal (similar to dentistry).
Your follow-up appointment will be scheduled for two weeks after your procedure, with an additional appointment six weeks after the procedure. It is very important to keep these appointments for the best results.
