About Arm Lift Surgery
At Timeless Plastic Surgery, we offer upper arm lift surgery (also called brachioplasty) as an option for people who cannot manage to tone or tighten their arms with natural methods. Excess skin from the elbow to the shoulder is very typical, particularly for people who are advancing in age or have lost significant amounts of weight. An upper arm lift excises this hanging skin, sometimes known as "bat wings." Board-certified plastic surgeons Drs. Peter Chang and Ankur Mehta are very knowledgeable in fat removal and skin tightening techniques. If you would like to hear more information about how brachioplasty can correct the shape of your upper arms, please contact us for an appointment at Timeless Plastic Surgery in Sugar Land, TX
"I simply cannot say enough great things about my experience with Dr. Ankur Mehta and Timeless Plastic Surgery overall. I've seen Dr. Mehta for the past two years for Botox, fillers, Emsculpt and MiraDry. Each procedure was explained in detail so there were no surprises and the results were better and more natural than I even hoped for. For my lips he had a different injection technique that prevented the "duck lip" look that commonly results from other methods. I trusted his advice and am so glad I did! I'm absolutely in love with the results! My lips are very full and pouty yet still have a natural look to them. He also used a very powerful topical numbing cream that worked like a charm. Everyone at TPS is extremely friendly and truly cares about achieving great results. I highly recommend Dr. Mehta and Timeless and as an actress I see why it's the go-to in Houston for cosmetic plastic surgery!"- E.K. / Yelp / Apr 23, 2020

They made me feel very comfortable and spent the time to explain my options and the cost associated with each. Dr. Mehta has checked in on me several times after the visit, which was very much appreciated! And most importantly, great results!"- M.T. / Google / Jan 25, 2020

Arm Lift Ideal Candidates
An upper arm lift is a procedure that uses advanced methods to contour and eliminate unwanted skin. If you are tired of hiding your "bat wings" and would prefer them to appear trim and contoured again, you are a great candidate for an arm lift. You need to be in overall good health so that you will recover properly. Some of the primary signs for potential arm lift patients are loose, excess skin on their upper arms, plus minimal tautness of the skin. It is critical that you are at or close to a healthy, stable weight before your surgery.
Arm Lift Surgical Technique
Your upper arm surgery will be performed on-site in our surgical suite. An upper arm lift may be combined with other surgeries including a tummy tuck, thigh lift, or mommy makeover — as long as Dr. Chang and/or Dr. Mehta consider it appropriate. An upper arm lift is done under IV Sedation and can require a few hours to complete. The unwanted skin will be surgically removed starting at the elbow and continuing to the armpit. The incision will be placed to be as hidden as possible, although it will become a visible scar. In cases where liposuction is wanted to eliminate stubborn pockets of fat, this can be completed also. After the skin is pulled taut, it will be stitched together. You will have to care for the incisions by keeping them cleaned, covered, and supported with compression garments.
What to Expect with Arm Lift
A typical recovery timeframe may take an estimated two weeks with lots of rest and arm elevation. Give your body time to heal. You use your arms for more than you think, so most patients should slowly make their way back to their daily activities. If needed, a suture removal appointment will be scheduled about ten days following surgery. Compression garments must be kept on until you receive permission from Dr. Chang or Dr. Mehta. For at least one month, all exercise and strenuous activity must be eliminated. If you notice uncontrolled bleeding, excessive swelling, fluid buildup (hematoma), signs of infection, numbness in the hands and arms, or unusual scarring, please contact Timeless Plastic Surgery right away.
Arm Lift Frequently Asked Questions
How much does arm lift surgery cost?
The total cost for an arm lift will be based on several things. Before we can estimate your costs, we will start with a consultation to understand your concerns and goals. Following this, we will develop your unique surgical plan and break down your costs. In order to make it easier to choose an experienced plastic surgeon (like Dr. Chang or Dr. Mehta) and get the results you want, Timeless Plastic Surgery takes several forms of payment. We will also give you information on low-interest financing.
Can I combine an arm lift with other surgeries?
It's normal for patients who want an arm lift to create a custom treatment plan with another surgery. This is often known as an upper body lift and may combine liposuction, a breast lift, or tummy tuck depending on the complexity of the case. Arm lift surgery is frequently included in after weight loss surgery for those who have lost a significant amount of weight and need contouring throughout their body. In your initial consultation, the physician will ultimately decide if your arm lift procedure can be combined with other procedures after a full assessment.
Will there be scars?
A surgical arm lift needs incisions in order to cut away excess skin, which does lead to having a scar . However, Dr. Chang and Dr. Mehta will make every effort to place the incisions in inconspicuous areas. Following your arm lift, creams that help with healing will be suggested along with our tips for minimizing scarring. We also suggest you limit UV exposure for at least one year to protect the scar from becoming discolored. In general, patients consider the overall benefits of an arm lift are worth the minimal scars created.
What results can I expect from an arm lift?
A surgical arm lift is used to excise loose skin and small amounts of fat. You should follow a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and a balanced diet to avoid a dramatic change in your weight, which might undo your results. After recovery and permission from Dr. Chang and Dr. Mehta, you should begin weight training. This is a good way to improve the shape of your upper arms by strengthening the muscles.
Are there nonsurgical treatments to improve my arms?
Although there are a lot of noninvasive skin tightening options, they can only give you small improvements. To correct moderate to severe skin laxity, arm lift surgery is your best choice. In addition to treating loose skin, liposuction can be used on small pockets of fat to smooth the tissue and remaining skin. If you're interested in learning about nonsurgical procedures, we can discuss these in your consultation and help you choose which fits your goals.
Contour Your Arms
No matter what you call your droopy skin or "bat wings" under your upper arms, Dr. Chang and Dr. Mehta see it as a way to improve your appearance with cosmetic surgery. This innovative procedure provides physical and emotional benefits as well. If you're at or close to a healthy, stable weight but still can't get rid of the skin and flab that hang off your arms, please contact us at Timeless Plastic Surgery to plan a consultation. Look and feel fitter and younger with upper arm lift surgery.
